Baking (with the Hunger Games)

After reading the title, at least the guys have probably already signed this off to be boring. Well it might be. But since it around 11 P.M. on Sunday night, this is what I'm going with. Let's begin.

Baking is an activity that I somewhat maybe sort of kind of enjoy. It's better than cooking at least. Anyways, this past Friday I made fudge. Peanut butter fudge with chocolate chips to be exact. As it was my first time making it, it's not perfect. But hey, fudge is fudge, so it's still pretty good.

You know what my favorite part about baking is though? Licking the spoon or bowl. Growing up in my family, it was always, ALWAYS, a battle to see who could get to the spoon first.
The next couple minutes are chaotic and hectic. After hearing your mother (or father on rare occasion) yell that the spoon is finished with, those minutes consist of actually throwing down whatever you were working on and booking it to the kitchen. As shown below.

Now, I usually lost out to my brother when it came to all of this. He was older, faster, and could usually push/pull me out the way. I couldn't do anything back to him either. It was kinda awful. All I could really do was threaten him in my head and hope, for my sake, that he couldn't hear it. One of my more favorite threats I thought of before sounded a lot like this.
I realize this blog has been entirely pointless and boring, but it's the best I could do. If I'm correct, this is also the last blog that will be required of me. Ah, too bad (sarcasm noted). Anyways, I don't really see myself posting too much stuff after this but who knows, I eventually may. But until then,

UFO

Early Monday morning at an ungodly hour, approximately 4:30 A.M., I saw what some people spend most of their lives trying to see. A UFO. At this point, you're probably already laughing at this and thinking that I'm crazy. Well, I kind of am. I'm sort of joking though. Quite honestly, I'm not sure what I saw Monday morning. When I saw the bright, white light though, I imagined that it was an alien UFO. You know, just so I could have something to think about and keep me awake until I got to school. This is what I was imagining it kind of looked like.

Anyways, what I saw gazed upon that morning was a white light that lit up the entire sky, shot across the sky for about two seconds, and then vanished. As I told Pastor Reinert and my supposed friends about this Tuesday morning though, I was chuckled at by him and scoffed at by my two Twidlets. Typical. Pastor Reinert believes it was a light that fell off a plane and I just so happened to see it, but I don't believe it. If anything, it was a comet. Maybe. Whatever. I still like my UFO story the best.

Meh.

You know what the biggest problem about Tumblr is? It's addicting. I go there to get my little gifs, and I'll usually just look until I find a funny gif and then I'll come up with a subject about it. Tonight though, I just wasted an hour looking through a bunch of gifs that I am not and will never use. Why? It. Is. Addicting. This isn't the point of the blog though. Actually this blog isn't going to have a specific point or reason. I'm going to tell you a slightly embarrassing story about myself. The only, ONLY, reason I'm doing so is because I literally have nothing else to write about.

Do you ever get those moments when you just wish you could crawl into a hole and never come out because you're just THAT embarrassed? I can honestly say that this doesn't happen much to me. On rare occasion though, it does.

I was walking along a nature trail in the Washington Zoo with my brother Hunter and my friend Emily. To the left of said trail was a very steep hill that led up to the actual zoo again. I don't know what possessed my brother to do it, but he just started booking up the side of that hill, with Emily close behind, and I'm standing there slightly confused. As I watch my brother reach the top, I see him gracefully hop over the metal railing that separates the cement ground from the dirt and grass. As I gaze upon the railing, I start to think that the railing isn't too high. I start to wonder if I can look as cool as my brother did when he jumped over that railing. So I started sprinting up the hill.

This is where my story starts to take a tragic turn. As I was approaching the railing, I was prepping myself for my graceful leap over it. Too bad it never happened. I was so close to getting over the railing. Oh so close. I got the first leg over, which was awesome. As the second leg was going over though, the tip of my foot struck the railing. I'm sure you can imagine what happened next.
The fall wasn't quite that long, but I assure you that that's how I unfortunately looked. Plus there wasn't any water to break my fall. Just cement. That wasn't even the worst part of it. The worst part of it was realizing that there are about fifty people staring at you. Remember at the beginning of the blog when I mentioned something about going into that hole and never coming out? Yeah, that time is right now. The first words that literally came to my mind were these:
I just kind of got up and walked away at that point. Not my fondest memory. Obviously.

Disclaimer: All the people at tumblr.com and their respective websites own these gifs. I, obviously, do not.

Fears

As I sat here pondering about what to write on this week, I heard a loud noise come from somewhere waaaaaaay too close to my household. As I was alone at the house, I got freaked out. Rightly so though. And then it struck me. Fear. I don't care if you're Batman, Superman, Wonder Woman, or any other superhero; everyone has at least one fear. If you're like me though, you have too many to count. Let's name a few, shall we?

Thievery. When I heard that noise tonight, I honestly thought someone was breaking into my house haha. Thankfully, no one was. I still don't know what that noise was though. Anyways, burglary is a big deal in every part of the world I'm guessing. My house has never been broken into, or at least not that I'm aware of. Still though, it's up there on the top of my fear list.
I know this isn't a house break-in, but I thought this was pathetic. And kinda funny lol.
Kidnapping. Kind of a random fear for a 17 year old, yes I know. I just can't get over the fact that I could be innocently walking through a parking lot towards my beautiful van and then BAM. I end up in the back of a van that looks like this that's taking me who knows where. Yeah, kidnapping is not cool.

One word: Tornado. Spirals spun straight from Satan. That's my definition of them at least. Horrid, terrible, monstrous, destructive, terrifying things. I think my family and I went through a really small one quite a few years ago, and the damage was really bad. It sort of scarred me haha. Seriously though, these things top my fear list. I honestly think I would drop dead out of fear of just seeing one coming towards me before it even has a chance to do any damage.
Looking at this is seriously creeping me out. Ugh. Anyways, I'm tired and this blog is finished. See you guys next timeeee.

Morning Chaos -_-

Hello all. I mentioned in my last blog about a incident concerning multiple fire alarms going off in my house. Since I can't seem to find anything else to write about, I'm going with that. So, my apologies if this is a tad boring for you. Anyways, let's begin.

Time: 5:00 A.M. Everyone in my household is dead asleep, obviously. We're all enjoying nice dreams, relishing in the fact that we don't have to get up for about another hour or two. Everything is as peaceful as the wind gently blowing through a beautiful prairie in Spring, right? WRONG.

Time: 5:01 A.M. Mass chaos is swiftly traveling through my entire house. Every single fire alarm in my household is going off. There I am trying to find my family (which isn't working out too well) after just waking up out of a dead sleep. Hahhh, well. You want to know why this was so difficult? See, I was had been sick that entire day. Like, really sick. So I took some strong medicine before going to bed. You know, to help with the sickness and what not. Apparently at five in the morning, all of the medicine hadn't worn off yet. So in short, I was sorta high. As I went searching through tumblr, I found this little video that very, very accurately depicts how I looked when I got out of bed that morning.
Hahh, that seriously makes me laugh every time I watch it. Anyways, that's it. Oh, and in case you're wondering, we never did find out what was wrong with them. They just sort of shut off on their own and they've been good ever since. Once again, I apologize for any boredom I may have caused you.
See you next timeee.

Sleeeeeeeeeeeep

This week, I'm going to touch on almost everyone's favorite thing:
Sleep. It's one of the most sacred things on the face of the earth. No question about it.

How about we go through the phases of a school day?

Step 1: Getting out of bed. Difficulty level: 10. This is literally one of the hardest things I've ever had to do in my entire life. Not ONLY is getting up an enormous feat, but unless you're exceedingly blessed from the Lord, you look awful doing it. Just not cool. This is how I usually perceive myself looking as I get out of bed.

Step 2: Trying to stay awake during classes. Difficulty level: 9. In my opinion, this is easier than step one, but still extremely difficult. I can usually stay awake only because I either A) don't pay attention or B) mess with friends. Oh, and you also have to learn while trying to stay awake. I swear, we should get paid for this.

Step 3: Falling asleep that night. Difficulty level: 0. When my head hits that pillow and I close my eyes, I'm out until my stupid alarm wakes me up the next morning. The only thing that can wake me up in the middle of a dead sleep is that fire alarm going off at 5 in morning, but that's a whole other story in itself.

It's currently 11:37 P.M. and I feel like the poor rabbit in the below video, so I'm calling it a night. See you guys on the next blog!

School, Pt. 2

Well. Hasn't this been a fun, internetless weekend. I finally got tired of waiting on Comcast to fix the internet, so I took the initiative to call. Turns out, they apparently had no idea that anything was wrong. Typical. So I was crammed under our computer desk for 30 minutes trying to figure out what cables went to where all while trying to understand what the foreign Comcast lady on the phone was saying. Not fun.  Anyways, here I, and my blog, finally are.

Let's begin.

This is going to be sort of a spin off from last week.
Studying.
It can also be summed up like this.

I don't study much. At all. Actually all I do is cram for about 5 or 10 minutes before a test. Honestly, who wants to sit in a chair going over and over the same stuff for about an hour? No one. That's who. Don't get me wrong, I understand that there are some things that are truly crucial to study for, but I've come to realize over the past couple years, I'm just starting to not care. Maybe it's because of the whole "senioritis" thing, but seriously. I'm at the point where, if I even pick up some papers that need studying, I just feel like doing this:

All of that just to say this.
I loathe studying.
Have a good week :)

School. Yay.

The dictionary's definition for school ~ An institution for educating children.
My, along with most of today's youth, definition for school ~ A torture chamber that adults make the youth go through simply for their own amusement.
I understand that we need to learn stuff and what not, but seriously? We go to school nine out of the twelve months and for five of the seven days. Who divided this stuff up?! -_-

Since I've already started on my rant, let's keep on going.
Tests. Who loves them as much as I do?! Yeah, didn't think so. Horrid things. Knowing you failed a test is hard enough, but then having the teacher go over it after you get finished with it? Just wrong. And kind of depressing.

How about that great moment when you embarrass yourself in front of the entire class? There are multiple, multiple ways of doing so, but this has always been one of my favorites.

Since school is torture, we enjoy the little free time that we get. There is nothing like the feeling of watching the teacher walk out of the room and leaving the class unsupervised. Sure, we're good for the most part, but still, nothing beats that little spark of excitement that leaves us feeling like this.

 End rant.
Well, as fun as that was, I must be off to do other things. See you guys next time!

Sibling Rivalry

Hello again. I've been sitting here for the past hour trying to come up with something to talk about, which hasn't been working out so well. So, I decided to go off Madeline's idea from her last blog. Instead of writing about a younger sibling though, I decided to write about an older one. Ladies and gents, I am almost pleased to introduce you to my one and only brother, Hunter Christian Paige Diskin (he usually leaves Paige out of his name, but I always like using it just to annoy him.)

Odd picture choice, yes I know, but the majority of his pictures are stupid and this was the best I could get. Anyways, there is so much stuff I could say about him, but I'll try to keep it short. He's amazingly good at art, he's hilarious (most of the time), he has such a big heart, and he always keeps his head up when things are looking down, and I love him for all that. For the most part, we've always gotten along pretty well, as well as siblings can of course. Things haven't always been smooth for us though. But hey, no sibling relationships ever are. The one subject I'm gonna touch on is our fighting though. We don't fight often, but when we do, it's an all out war. Of course we get in trouble by our parents, but they just don't understand.

I always assumed that with my superior intellect, I would have the upper hand in war. It was true, to an extent, but on those occasions that our fights would turn melee, I was, simply put, screwed. No amount of brain power was going to save me then. I'm no weakling, but there's just no comparison between his strength and mine. And considering the majority of our fights ended up hand-to-hand, I lost most of them. In the end, the outcomes sadly ended up looking like this, or this is how I usually saw them at least.

(I, of course, being the penguin that is walking, in case that wasn't already painfully obvious.)

Even through our fights, he's one of my best friends and we would pretty much do anything for each other. I feel weird actually saying nice things about him for once...oh well. This blog is finished. See you guys next time!

Bowling Fun

Asian bowling level = Epic

Now, you may be wondering how watching an Asian bowl is going to be relevant to this blog. Let me tell you why. My birthday party was last Friday, and we went bowling! Ah, bowling. An American past time. It's pretty much one of those sports where you either hate it or you love it. I, for one, love it (at least when I'm doing well at it.) I, along with four of my dearly loved friends, headed up to Seaford Bowling Lanes to attempt to do what the person in the above video is doing. Maybe not all the flipping, but at least the knocking down of the pins part.

Oh, yeah. You want to know a secret? We all stink at bowling. One of us, not mentioning any names *cough*MEGHAN*cough*, even had to use one of those child bowling ramps that do all the work for you. It looked something like this.

Remember how I told you that we all stink at bowling? Yeah, well, imagine our reactions when one of us got a strike.

That sums it up nicely. All in all, it was a fantastic night, and I think everyone had a good time, which is all that matters to me. And for the cherry on top of that awesome night, I finally turned 17! Just one more year until adulthood!

See you guys on the next blog!

A Year of Opportunities

Well. I still don't exactly know what this blog is going to be about. But! I figure since this is still a new year (kind of), I can write about that. So! Does anyone have any resolutions? Oh? You want to know about my resolutions first? Well, tough luck. I don't have any. I actually use to be into the whole "Finally! A new year! I promise I'll accomplish more than I did last year!" stuff. After a couple of years of everything being the same though, I sort of quit all the resolution promises. This is pretty much how it's been.
Yep, that's my year so far, but how's yours going? I'm honestly curious about what kind of resolutions people have. Maybe it's to make more friends, or to get rid of some unwanted ones. Or maybe it's just as simple as getting better grades in school or something. Big or small, our resolutions are still important to our own selves.  Don't want to share your resolutions? That's perfectly fine. Want to share your resolutions with the world (or at least some of your fellow inmates- *cough*- I mean, friends from school)? Then please, feel free to comment.

Now that that is finished with, I'm tired. See you guys on the next blog. Happy 2013!
